Rev'd Dr. Neal Otto Hively was called in July 1994 as the tenth pastor of Trinity since its founding in 1891. Pastor Hively was born and raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and is a Ministerial son of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport. He is happily married (he says!) to Lee Codd, since 1975; they have two children: Christopher Stephen and Beth Ellen.
Pastor Hively is the recipient of the Lower Susquehanna Synod (ELCA) "Excellence in Evangelism Award." He is widely known in the South Central Pennsylvania region for his passion for evangelism and outreach ministries, and for volunteer ministry with congregations engaged in Strategic Planning to deliberately plan for Mission and ministry. He has served on the Boards of Directors (and an officer) of Lutheran Social Services of South Central PA and LutherCare (formerly LSS - East Region). He was ordained in 1976 and has served parishes in Adams, York, Lancaster and Franklin Counties, all in Pennsylvania.
In the summer of 2005 the Hively's were granted a sabbatical leave by the parish and visited "growing - emerging" Lutheran congregations around the United States. His sabbatical report link is available immediately below.
Dr. Hively 's personal free time hobby is researching and publishing Pennsylvania Colonial Land Records for York County.
