THE SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE TOOLBOX: COMING CLOSER TO CHRIST (C³)

A Spiritual Disciplines series developed and led by Pr. Hively, assisted by previous session graduates; (piloted and tested by Trinity members)

Over the years I’ve heard many “wish” that they had a closer relationship with Christ, but somehow lacked the ‘something’ to achieve that most worthy goal.

This six week course is an introductory series to life-long dedicated spiritual disciplines, with the goal of establishing a renewed focus and impulse toward a rich life with God. The series will give renewed hope to those who love God but are somehow disillusioned with life. It will reestablish for the participant the solid foundation on which any healthy church is built. Those Trinity members who have completed the series report that the learning from this series has changed their lives!

This is a dedicated – disciplined study; it is NOT for the merely curious or for those who might intend to drift in and out of the sessions. Participants will be asked to seriously commit – to attend as many sessions as possible, to follow the spiritual disciplines as directed, to covenant with one another and to mentor / be mentored throughout the process. There is regular home work and daily journaling expected.

From each of the 6 sessions, participants should expect a fairly dramatic “Ah-Ha!” moment – a significant transformational learning – and a “tool” to regularly employ to reinforce that learning. This is a “community-wide” series; non-members are expected and encouraged to participate. Invite your friends!

When Sunday after worship, 12:30 PM in the Lounge. Sessions are about two hours; bring a bag lunch; Sundays – August 15 – September 19 (week one is mandatory attendance)

            Week 4 – Knowing God – “Catch”

            Week 5 – Test the Spirits – “Target”

            Week 6 – Idolatry gets in the way – “Tension”
